About Moira O’Hara

Freedom means the opportunity to be what we never thought we could be.
— Daniel J Boorstin

I have worked as a psychotherapist and counsellor for nearly two decades and over that time I’ve studied a number of different models of counselling and psychotherapy. I practise humanistic, integrative therapy because my experience leads me to believe that no single approach is right for everyone. While as human beings we all have many things in common, we are each unique and it’s central to my practice to respect and celebrate each person as an individual.

My core models of counselling and psychotherapy training have been in Person-Centred counselling, Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing). As part of my continuing professional development I’ve also studied a number of other therapeutic methods, including:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy

  • Solution-focussed therapy

  • Stress management

  • Motivational interviewing

  • Acceptance and commitment therapy

  • CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management)

  • Anger management

  • Compassion-focussed therapy

I am accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy as a Psychotherapist/Counsellor and by EMDR Europe as an EMDR practitioner.
